Preparing a product listing takes more than choosing a photograph. Sellers need to show what the item looks like, keep the collection consistent, and prepare images for the storefront where shoppers will see them. ListingClear brings background editing and image sizing into the same workspace for Etsy, Amazon, eBay and Shopify sellers. Start with a product photo you already have, then work through the presentation choices that matter for your listing.
Preparing a new Etsy listing? Read the Etsy image size guide before choosing the canvas and crop.
Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP photo and check the original before making changes. For a simple, solid backdrop, try the local background removal tool. For more complex scenes, use AI background removal when it is enabled for your account. Review the outline carefully, especially around fine details, transparent materials and pale products. Background removal is an editing step: it still helps to begin with a clear photograph that shows the product accurately.
A white background can give a product a simple presentation, while a custom backdrop can help related items feel like a collection. Choose a background color, adjust the space around the subject, and preview a shadow if it suits the photograph. Keep the product itself easy to see. Compare the result with the original so that editing choices do not distract from the details a buyer needs to evaluate. See how to create a clean white background for product photos without changing the product's colours or edges.
If you sell on eBay, check the eBay image size guidance before you export.
For a closer look at framing, padding and export checks, use our Etsy listing photo size workflow alongside the studio.
After editing the background, choose a marketplace size preset and review the crop and padding. The studio centers the image without stretching the subject. These presets are editing starting points; check the current requirements for your marketplace, image type and category before publishing. Etsy, Amazon, eBay and Shopify can have different requirements, and a suitable export depends on where the image will be used.
Export a PNG when you need to keep transparency, or choose JPG or WebP for a different file format. Open the downloaded image and check the result before adding it to your listing. Batch processing is on the way — for now, apply the same settings to each product one at a time.
A general image editor can serve many creative purposes. ListingClear focuses this workflow on the steps sellers repeat: upload a product photo, remove an unwanted background, choose a clean backdrop, and prepare an export for a marketplace. Keeping those decisions together makes it easier to review related product images as a set. Your final check remains the same: does the photo describe the actual item clearly, and does it meet the requirements for the listing you are about to publish?
